Excellence in Concrete — Winery
Rodeo Hills Winery · Newberg, Oregon · May 2024
In May 2024 the Oregon Chapter of the American Concrete Institute and the Oregon Concrete & Aggregate Producers Association recognized Rodeo Hills Winery in Newberg with their Excellence in Concrete Award for Winery. John M. Russell Construction was named on the award alongside Concrete Finishing Co.
The following year the same two organizations recognized our work at the Labyrinth in Corbett, in the Paving & Flatwork category.
The winery was built in rammed earth — soil and aggregate compacted in layers inside formwork, then left exposed as the finished wall. Nothing goes over the top of it, and there's no second attempt. Every lift shows in the final surface.
These awards are judged by people who pour concrete for a living, across Oregon and southwest Washington. Not a badge you can buy — a jury of the trade.
